How to comment on our consultation

Once we’ve done the checks on your pension, we plan to convert all GMP built up between 6 April 1978 and 5 April 1997 into normal (non-GMP) pension. This would make your pension simpler for us to administer, and easier for you to understand. For this conversion, we do not have to include members who only have GMP built up before 1990, as that GMP is not included in the legal checks. But, with the Company, we have chosen to do so.

There are a few different methods that pension schemes can use to remove any sex-based inequality caused by GMP. GMP conversion is one of these methods - and it is the one that we have chosen to use. We worked with lawyers and actuaries to reach this decision, and we are confident in the approach we have taken.

With EY, we are legally required to consult members about this conversion. You can read about other methods we could have used if you would like to.

The consultation is now closed. The consultation period ran from 1 October 2025 to 30 November 2025. We’ll post the outcome of the consultation on this website.
